Rubens Museum
About the company:
Museum in Antwerp, dedicated to the life and work of the famous artist of the XVII century Peter Paul Rubens with a partial reproduction of his interiors and art collections. The museum is housed in a house Rubens built for himself and his family.
The living rooms in the house are made in the Flemish style, and the workshop and study of the great artist are designed in the style of the Italian Renaissance. The house has a patio hidden from view by a baroque arch designed by Rubens. It is believed that the appearance and design of the house was strongly influenced by the fact that the artist lived in Italy for several years and studied the architecture there.
The museum has few exhibits and items from Rubens’ collections. Most of the exposition is occupied by sketches of the master, portraits, copies of his paintings. The originals are few - most of them are located outside Belgium and are included in the collections of the largest museums in the world.
Among the paintings of the artist is a self-portrait. Here are furniture of the XVII century and paintings of predecessors and contemporaries of the master.
