Notre Dame Church in Bruges

Mariastraat, 8000 Brugge, Belgium

Description:

The Church of Notre Dame in Bruges can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, and its bell tower is 122 meters tall (by the way, the second tallest after Antwerp) is a symbol of the city.

Entrance to the church is free, but some interesting and valuable works are exhibited behind the altar, and you will have to pay for entering this space. In one of the four chapels of the public part is the main artistic value of the cathedral – the marble “Our Lady with Child” by Michelangelo. This is the only sculpture that left Italy during the life of the master.

In the choir of the church are the tombs of Charles the Bold and his daughter Maria of Burgundy, made in the style of flaming Gothic. There are also exhibited magnificent jewelry reliquaries.
