Hazeltstraat, Roeselare, Belgium
About the company:
The National Cycling Museum, located in the Belgian city of Rouselare, was founded in 1985. Originally located in the building of the City Museum, in 1998 he moved to a small two-storey building built in the Renaissance style in the late XIX century, which was previously occupied by the city Arsenal. The unique collection of the museum attracts visitors from all over the world.
The expositions of the museum acquaint guests with the history of bicycle production, the origins and the modern state of cycling in the country and the world. Among the exhibits you can see: an old wooden bicycle, the first racing and the first mountain bike, photos, documents and personal belongings of Belgian cyclists.
A separate hall is dedicated to the famous Belgian cyclist Jean-Pierre Monceret, who died at the age of 22 during one of the cycling races in the status of the current world champion. His sports jersey and gold medal are kept in this hall. Also on the territory of the National Museum of Cycling there is a workshop for the repair and restoration of bicycles with a real forge, in which you can see an old operating oven.
