St. Lambert Square
Place Saint-Lambert, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium
Description:
In the heart of the city of Liège is St. Lambert Square. This is the largest square in the city, which arose on the site where St. Lambert Cathedral was once located, destroyed by the revolution. The square has something to show tourists, despite its dark past.
Today, St. Lambert Square impresses tourists with its beauty. It is also an important part of Liege’s infrastructure. On the front of the square is the Halinka Jakubowska fountain, and nearby are several luxury hotels.
However, the history of the square is not entirely clean. In addition to being erected on the ruins of the former cathedral, the site became an arena for mass murder on December 13, 2011, when a terrorist attack claimed the lives of many people.
Still, there is a lot to see, because St. Lambert Square will forever remain one of the best attractions of Liege.
