Urt River

Belgium, Liege

Description:

The Urt River is famous not only for its size (the length of the river is 165 kilometers, the area of the basin is 3,624 square kilometers), which provided this river with the fourth place in the list of the largest rivers in Belgium, but also for the fact that at the same time several cities stand on its tributaries and mouth. Also with its right tributary, the Urt flows into the second largest river in Belgium, the Meuse, which is 925 kilometers in size.

Despite the fact that the Urt River is the calmest, there is a network of canals, locks and pumping stations on the banks to regulate the flow in case of rising water.

It is noteworthy that along many bends of the river there are small, but very well-groomed bridges, and in the bowels of the reservoir fishermen catch a considerable catch of trout of other fish species every day.

Also, in addition to local fishermen, the river is also chosen by residents of an active lifestyle, who often raft along the river, as well as on its coast they arrange local competitions on water bikes and kayaks. There are also equipped places for paintball lovers.
