Day of Belarusian Science
Description:
There is currently no system of science development in the country. Recently, reforms in the scientific field have been approached repeatedly, but without much success.
The idea of creating a so-called parallel economy on the part of science has arisen more than once. The problem is that, despite the availability of the necessary regulatory framework, the conditions for the emergence and effective development of small innovative enterprises (they should be the basis of a parallel economy) are not the most favorable today. Large enterprises do not always have the means to implement new developments.
As a result, no more than 2-3% of agricultural and industrial products are updated annually in the country, and in order for it to be competitive, at least 15% must be updated today.
One of the most important indicators of scientific activity, the knowledge intensity of GDP, in recent years is 0.8-0.9 percent. This is higher than in most CIS countries, but significantly lower than in Finland and Sweden, which are comparable to Belarus in terms of size and population, where the knowledge intensity of GDP is 3%. And yet, in two or three years, this figure is planned to increase to 1.8 percent.
