Now in 212 cities and urban settlements concentrated 7159 thousand people, or 70.3% of its total. Quality requirements for products and services of the housing and utilities industry are growing.
Housing and communal services of local councils, which includes up to 16 different sub-sectors, concentrated in 650 enterprises and organizations of the system, has 146,000 highly qualified specialists. The labor dynasties of the Shkodovs in Slonim, Nesterovichi in Vitebsk and others are well known. More than 50 of them have high titles of honored workers of housing and communal services of the republic, 364 - honorary.
Despite the selfless work of employees of the industry, there are shortcomings in the activities of enterprises and organizations of the system that cause fair criticism of citizens. Therefore, at present, the main task of the industry is to improve the work of departments to provide high-quality services to the population, strengthen production, price and financial discipline.
Work will continue to improve the reliability of engineering systems and structures of housing and communal services, to introduce new energy and resource-saving technologies.
In addition, work continues to strengthen ties with the population and citizens' appeals. The efficiency of departmental control is increased, healthy and safe working conditions are created, the scientific and technical potential of the industry and the efficiency of industry is increased, activities to improve the environmental situation in the cities of the republic are improved.
