Day of Land Management and Cartographic and Geodetic Service of Belarus
Description:
The first documentary evidence of state land acts, called riders, dates back to 1398. Even then, Belarusians measured the land and were engaged in mapping. So it has quite ancient traditions. Since then, the state land management service has undergone many reforms and reorganizations.
In 1997, one important event occurred - after a two-hundred-year break, the land management and mapping and geodetic services were reunited. The State Committee on Land Resources, Geodesy and Cartography of the Republic of Belarus was established. And since 2002, this service has also been entrusted with the functions of state registration of rights to real estate and transactions with it.
Currently, the total number of employees of the service is about five and a half thousand people. They perform a variety of tasks in the field of improving land relations, solving national problems of economic development, defense and security, inventory and real estate valuation.
This year, the Belarusian land management and mapping and geodetic services turned 600 years old. But the specialists of this field celebrate their professional holiday only for the 7th time.
