Family Day of Belarus

Family DayThis day is widely celebrated in Belarus: charity evenings are held for guardian families with children, meetings of married couples with extensive experience of family life, festive events for children from large and low-income families, organized by local authorities.

In our time, the family is the most important environment for the preservation and transmission from generation to generation of cultural values, national traditions, it morally and financially supports children, the elderly and the disabled. The observance of the International Day of the Family serves to enhance its status and contributes to a better understanding of its pressing problems and needs.

To further strengthen the status of the family, Belarus adopted the National Program of Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus for 2007-2010 and the Presidential Program “Children of Belarus” for 2006-2010, which developed subprograms on stimulating the birth rate and strengthening the family and others, as well as “Social protection of the family and children”.
