Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus
Description:
It is believed that Defender of the Fatherland Day arose in 1918 as the birthday of the Red Army in commemoration of the victory at Narva and Pskov over the German conquerors. However, neither on this day nor in February 1918 there were no victories over the Germans. Only in 1922, this day became a holiday and was called the Day of the Red Army.
In 1946 it became known as the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy.
Although the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland today is perceived rather as the “male eighth of March”, it is worth remembering that first of all congratulations deserve those who defended our Motherland in different years, and those who now protect the peaceful sleep of Belarusians. Those who for decades have proved boundless love for the Motherland, devotion to the Motherland, loyalty to duty and oath, bravery in battle, discipline and order in the service. All these former, current and future defenders of the Fatherland, of course, expect to receive a gift for the holiday.
