Brest railway station

Description:

Brest railway station is the largest transport point in the west of Belarus. The first railway connection appeared here in 1869 as part of the opening of the Warsaw-Brest-Litovsk branch.

Today the central station of Brest serves long-distance trains, as well as suburban routes. Brest is connected by direct railway routes with Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Paris, Kiev.

The main station building was built in 1886 and became the first railway structure in the Russian Empire to be fully electric. The building in the form of an ancient medieval castle was one of the main attractions of Brest. During the First World War, the building was blown up by retreating Russian troops, and later partially restored. Large-scale reconstruction of the station began after 1953. In 2010, a large-scale repair of this ancient structure was carried out.

At the station there are storage rooms, a cafe, a currency exchange point.
