Lunacharsky Park

Lunacharsky Culture Park, Gomel, 246050, Belarus

Description:

The pearl of the city above Sozh is considered to be the Lunacharsky Park of Culture and Recreation. It is here that the concentration of Gomel riches and historical values is in great concentration.

The central place of the park is the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace. Now the palace of the Gomel princes keeps a variety of objects, paintings and books belonging to the owners, which were an integral part of their daily life.

Near the majestic palace at the initiative of Nikolai Rumyantsev in the early 19th century was built Peter and Paul Cathedral. The golden domes of the cathedral can be seen from anywhere in the Gomel park.

Not far from the temple is a small chapel, which served as a tomb for the princes of Paskevich. Bizarre in architecture, the tomb with its beauty always attracts tourists. Made of white and red, embossed bricks, with stained-glass small windows and gilded domes, the chapel of the Paskeviches, like a small piece of Byzantium, was lost in the expanses of Gomel Polesie.
