Sozh river embankment
Description:
The embankment of the Sozh River is a beautiful quiet place that impresses many tourists and residents of the city of Gomel with its beauty. It was landscaped at the expense of prominent state and military figures Rumyantsev and Paskevich. The main attraction of these places is a unique natural and architectural ensemble, which since 2007 is called the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble.
The entire territory of the embankment is a unique monument of archeology, which carries various cultural remains of life of several epochs, starting from the Upper Paleolithic, and ending with the XVIII century. At the same time, the site, located between the ravines of Lebediny Pond and the Kiev Descent, where the pods of Old Russian Gomia, detinets and a roundabout city were located, is the heart of the modern city.
Nowadays, active work is underway to reconstruct the embankment of the Sozh River and the architectural objects adjacent to it in order to increase the attendance of the palace and park ensemble, both by residents of the city and its guests. Local authorities are doing everything possible to make a walk along the embankment as informative, exciting and unforgettable as possible.
