St. Nicholas Monastery of 1905

d. Gomel, D. Poor, 4

Description:

St. Nicholas Monastery at St. Nicholas Church is the only active male monastery in Gomel. Today he has a Sunday school and a library.

There are several Orthodox shrines on the territory of the monastery. Among the most revered are the miraculous list of the Kozelshchan icon of the Mother of God. The icon itself is placed above the royal gates of the St. Nicholas Church and during divine services is lowered for worship. Before the image, an akathist singing to Nicholas the Wonderworker is performed every Wednesday.

In 2007, the monastery was given a generous gift - from the monastery in Italy was transferred part of the relics of St. Nicholas. In addition, on the territory of the monastery there is now an ark with the relics of saints, an icon of John Kormyansky with a particle of his relics and an icon with the relics of the Optina Elders.

The monastic and liturgical life of the monastery is conducted according to the charter of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. In the monastery is made the reading of the Insatiable Psalter.
