Pharmacy Museum

p. Soviet, 4, 230023, Grodno, Belarus

About the company:

The pharmacy building was built in 1709. In this room it existed, despite the wars and numerous changes of owners until 1950. In 1996, after more than forty years of hiatus, the pharmacy smell began to hover again in these old halls.

The first museum exposition of the pharmacy lasted until 2004 and arose through the efforts of citizens. The second, which arose after the recent reconstruction, was divided into 3 exposition zones: two ensemble complexes and one thematic. In the first, the corner of the alchemist is recreated, and in the second - the installation of the recipe hall of the XIX-XX centuries.

The thematic area contains illustrative material about the history of the main stages of the pharmacy, which are also directly related to the development of medicine and pharmaceuticals. Most of the exhibits of the museum are a variety of pharmacy utensils, medicines, advertising products of pharmaceutical companies of the 1920s and 30s, ancient books on medicine and pharmaceuticals and medical instruments. Among the latter, there are especially rare, which made the autopsy of Stefan Batory, king of the Commonwealth.
