Excursion to Dudutki - the world of ancient life

Description:

I invite you to make an exciting journey into the world of ancient life and professions, to the museum complex of ancient folk crafts and technologies Dudutka.

For the first time this area is mentioned in the chronicles of the XI century. Here presumably passed the land route leading to Polotsk, which, according to researchers, is mentioned in the “Word of Igor’s regiment”. Shlyakhetsky estate Dudichi was known in the local region as a center of crafts and fairs. Today you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an ancient Belarusian nobility manor, recreated in the form in which it existed hundreds of years ago.

The museum consists of several complexes - a craft yard with a mini-exposition of folk life and a forge, a stable and a zoo, a garage with retro cars, the only windmill working in Belarus, a wooden church of John the Forerunner. You will have the opportunity to become an apprentice to a blacksmith or sit at a pottery wheel. For each excursion group, the masters right before their eyes forge a souvenir shoe for memory. During the tour of the craft workshops you can taste:

• at the moonshine apparatus (samogon, bread, pickle, honey)

• in the bakery (freshly baked bread, 3 types of cheeses, butter, tea)

• at the mill (peasant bread with lard)

In the garage you can see samples of vintage cars, including the captured "Horch" of the Second World War.

On the farm of the museum live cows, sheep, pigs and rabbits. Also in the zoo there are unusual pets - ostriches, deer, boars, ponies and donkeys. Near the planter there was a poultry house with waterfowl and not only feathered: geese, ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, pheasants and peacocks.

In the stable you can not only admire the thoroughbred horses, but also ride them.

The Church of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist in “Dudutki” combined the features of wooden cult architecture and modern traditions of Orthodoxy. Special admiration for guests is caused by the thatched royal gates. In the temple there is an icon with particles of relics of St. John the Baptist, brought as a gift by monks from Montenegro, from the monastery of Cetin.

There are many interesting things you will learn during your trip.
