Temple of the Holy Prophet Zechariah and Holy Righteous Elizabeth

per. Student, 50 meters from the intersection with Stakhanovskaya Street, Minsk, Belarus

Description:

The decision to build the temple of the Holy Prophet Zechariah and Holy Righteous Elizabeth was made in 1998. Three years later, the authorities decided on a land plot for the future church, and in 2003-20012, the main construction work was carried out. In 2010, the church was consecrated in honor of Saints Zacharias and Elizabeth, and two years later a cross was installed on the church.

Among the main shrines that are kept in the church are particles of the relics of revered Belarusian saints: the wonderworker John Kormyansky, the Monk Theodosius of the Caucasus and the abbess of Diveevskaya Alexandra.

It is believed that the new temple was built on a symbolic place - almost the entire Traktorozavodsk district is built on human bones. Mass graves were repeatedly found here, because in the period from 1940 to 1946, an aircraft factory was built here by the hands of prisoners, workers and collective farmers, and in the postwar period a tractor plant was built here. Therefore, a place was so necessary to commemorate the dead Christians and the appearance of the temple in this place is regarded by many as God’s providence.
