Minsk Komarovsky Market

ooh Vera Khoruzhy 8, Minsk, Belarus

Description:

The Minsk Komarovsk market, founded in 1979, is the main food market not only of the Belarusian capital, but also of the whole country.

It is located in a historical place where the village "Komarovka" was once located, and several legends are associated with its name. So, in particular, one of them connects the name with the name of the fool - Fedka Komar, who received the nickname for his obsessive disposition. According to the second legend, he was killed in the forest, where a swamp was formed at the scene of the murder, dried in 1925 for laying tram rails connecting Komarovka and the Commodity Station.

It is currently a modern market of 5 hectares. On the square near it you can see several interesting bronze sculptures created by Vladimir Zhbanov and located next to a multi-stage fountain.
