Station Square

Station Square, Minsk, Minsk region, Belarus

Description:

All guests arriving in Minsk by rail, leaving the station Minsk-Passenger see the spacious station square. In addition to the railway and bus station on the square are the so-called "Gate of Minsk" - two 11-storey towers at the corners of residential five-story buildings.

The construction of the square was radically revised in the 70s, when railways began to converge in Minsk. The important railway junction had not only strategic but also cultural significance. The station building and other buildings surrounding the square are designed in the style of Stalinist classicism by the famous Leningrad architect Boris Rubanenko.

But the final touch in the appearance of the square were two twin towers, nicknamed the Gates of Minsk. On one of the towers there is a huge clock with a diameter of more than three and a half meters. This war trophy of the Great Patriotic War came from Germany. They are perfectly visible from any point of the square and numerous guests and tourists check their time.

On another tower, the huge coat of arms of the former BSSR looks no less monumental.
