Town Hall

Minsk City Hall, 2A, Freedom Square, Minsk, Minsk region, Belarus

Description:

The image of the town hall is associated with the fact of independence. The magistrate used to sit here, and now all the most important city administrative events are held. On the second floor there are meeting rooms, on the first floor there are exhibition halls of Minsk museums. In the main exhibition hall under a glass cap is a model of the historical center of Minsk of the early XIX century. The town hall traditionally hosts the opening of the City Day and performances of musical groups.

Near the town hall there is a cozy green square with forged benches, elegant lanterns and narrow paths. This is a favorite place for meetings and romantic dates with Minsk residents. Nearby on the square in front of the town hall is a sculptural composition of a carriage drawn by a pair of horses. There are always a lot of tourists who want to take pictures.

At nightfall near the town hall you can see a ghost. According to legend, this is the restless soul of Mikhail Volodkovich, who was shot in the XVIII century for atrocities. When the old town hall was demolished, the ghost disappeared, but returned in 2002 to the fully restored building.
