Zubr is the largest representative of fauna. In the XVIII century, as a result of deforestation, the number of this species decreased sharply. He met only in the Belovezhskaya Forest. In 1921, the last bison was killed. Only in 1946 began work on its restoration. Currently, the number of the species is more than 500 individuals.

The territory of the zoo is rich in historical events. During the Northern War there was a Swedish camp. In the XVIII century - the estate of Mr. Pipenberg, which after October 1917 was destroyed. Well, during the Great Patriotic War, fierce battles took place at this place. Now there is a college where future forestry specialists study.
