Castles of Belarus: Peace and Nesvizh in one day

Description:

Mir and Nesvizh castles are the most “promoted” tourist places in Belarus, which are also included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And yet, these castles still hold a lot of secrets and secrets, and they have something to offer again and again even to experienced tourists. And if anyone has not been to the world and Nesvizh, then it is necessary to go! This is the brightest beginning of knowledge of the Belarusian region.

Mir Castle, built in the early XVI century, is a true pearl of Belarusian architecture. At first, the former family estate of the counts of Ilyinich, by the second half of the century it became the property of the largest magnate family in Belarus - the Radziwills and became their summer residence. Just imagine the power of the family, for which Mir Castle was a “dacha”! Here they went hunting, balls and magnificent receptions were arranged. Of course, the castle has its own ghost - young Sonya Svyatopolk-Mirskaya, who died, not having had time to bloom, at the very beginning of the last century.

The world itself is equally interesting. The synagogue courtyard is almost entirely preserved – here, in the World, one of the largest Yeshiboths (Jewish higher school) of the world operated! And then in the XVIII century lived the gypsy king Jan Martinkiewicz.

To see only Nesvizh Palace, not enough day. In addition to the majestic architecture, recently restored by our best masters, a new museum exposition has opened - 11 museum collections! In the warm season, an incomparable pleasure will be a walk through the romantic landscape parks around the palace. It is worth looking at the monument to the mermaid-favorite of Prince Radziwill, nicknamed “Pane Kohanku”, and say hello to Black Panna – the ghost of the Queen of the Commonwealth of the beautiful Barbara Radziwill.

But there's still the city. It is here that the oldest Baroque temple of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is located with unique paintings of the Geski family, which is simultaneously the ancestral tomb of the Radziwill family. Nearby is a monument to Symon Budny, a reformer-educator who worked here. In a stone's throw, on the square, you can visit the elegant town hall - a symbol of the independence of a medieval European city. They will not leave indifferent the baroque “house on the square” – a typical dwelling of a Nesvizh merchant, as well as one of the few preserved entrance gates to the city – Slutskaya Brama.

On the way, for contrast, we can look at the not yet restored estate of the Radziwills – Polonechka, where the palace of Prince Matvey preserved the only example of germs – columns with completion in the form of sculptural heads. After the sad desolation of the estate, it will be pleasant to admire the pretty, straight puppet modern church of St. Yuri.
