Red Bridge

Polotsk

Description:

Through this bridge, Russian troops under the command of General Wittgenstein and a detachment of the St. Petersburg militia, after fierce fighting 6-8/19-21/October 1812, entered the city and liberated it from the enemy, which marked the beginning of the expulsion of Napoleon's troops from the Belarusian land.

Since then, in memory of the dead and spilled blood, this bridge is called the Red Bridge.
