Sculpture "The Polotsk Merchant"

Vitebsk region, Polotsk, Franciska Skaryna Street

Description:

The sculpture is dedicated to Polotsk merchants of all times and is installed in Polotsk near the House of Trade.

As you know, even in the early Middle Ages, a significant part of the trade route “From the Varangians to the Greeks” was under the control of the Polotians. The sculpture of the Polotsk merchant immediately fell in love with the citizens. Very quickly there was a kind of belief that if you rub a coin in the hand of a merchant, it will bring luck in financial affairs and material well-being.
