The railway bridge across the Western Dvina
Polotsk, Vitebsk region, Belarus.
Description:
The Western Dvina River divides Polotsk into two parts, so the city cannot do without bridges. There are several bridges in the city.
Initially, the crossing over the Western Dvina River had no structures and was possible only by boats or ferries.
The railway bridge was built at the end of the first decade of the 20th century, as soon as the connection from Bologoe station to Sedlets station through Polotsk opened. The city became an important railway junction. In 1941, the bridge was severely damaged during hostilities.
The bridge has been restored and functioning.
