Holy Sunday Church

ooh Tolstoy, Vitebsk, Belarus

Description:

Holy Sunday Church is located on Tolstoy Street and is considered the pride of Vitebsk.

In the 16th century, the building was built of wood, and in the 18th century a small stone temple was erected in its place. Soviet authorities believed that the church interfered with public transport, so it was blown up in 1936. Restoration work began in 2001 and church domes were installed in 2006.

In the evenings, deorative lighting is included here, emphasizing the beauty of the structure and its height - 37 meters.

The church is made in the style of late Baroque, has a refined appearance and harmoniously combines with the urban landscape. The front facade is decorated with images of saints and columns of the Corinthian Order. A special element in the interior decoration of the Orthodox Church are frescoes that decorate and complement the premises, making their image complete.
