Palace of Government
Description:
The Government Palace is one of the many attractions of the Bolivian city of Sucre. It was built in the Baroque style in 1896 for the needs of the local government. In 1905, the building passed into the possession of the Catholic Church. Currently, the Chukisaka Prefecture Building is located here. On its pediment there is an inscription: “La uni n es la fuerza”, which means “Unity gives strength”. This is the official motto of the Republic of Bolivia.
The Government Palace is located on the main square of Sucre. It impresses tourists and locals with its architectural forms. On the facade of the building there is a beautiful stained glass window of the original form. Under it is a balcony with three arched doors. Unlike the elegant facade, the walls of the building are made in a classical style. Rectangular windows and strict ornament give the palace some harmony and aesthetics.
