La Glorieta Castle
Description:
La Glorieta is an eclectic castle built in the late nineteenth century in Sucre, Bolivia. The architecture of the building combines many styles. The Romantic era is reminiscent of octagonal towers, an Arabic arch portico and a high minaret with a dome. The walls of the castle are made in the style of mannerism, baroque and rococo. Some Gothic and neoclassical elements are also found in La Glorieta. The building has three towers: the 40-meter tower of the Prince, the 30-meter tower of the Princess and the 25-meter tower – a copy of London’s Big Ben.
Inside La Glorieta there are 40 spacious rooms, many of which have preserved pristine decoration. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful garden, which is also perfectly preserved to our time. There are arbors, fountains, artificial lakes, small lawns and sculptural compositions.
The castle is very popular with tourists. It is open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00. Visiting here, you will be able to personally enjoy the original building, combining the best elements of many architectural styles.
