Inkahuasi Island

it is located in the center of the Uyuni salt desert

Description:

The island of Incahuasi is also called "Fisherman's Island" or "Cactus Island". This amazingly beautiful island is located in the center of the Uyuni salt marsh. It was formed from limestone rocks, fossilized corals and seashells. Most famous for the fact that there grow stunning cacti, some of them reach tens of meters in height.

A cactus forest of trichocereuses and pilloulaves completely covers the surface of the islet. Despite the fact that there are few ordinary trees on the salt marsh, and cacti are quite suitable for construction, it is forbidden to cut them on the island of Incahuasi, since it is a nature reserve.

There is a small museum and weather station on the island.
