Colorado Lagoon Lake

Laguna Colorada, Bolivia 841 m SW

Description:

Amazing Lake "Laguna Colorado" is a salty shallow (average depth - no more than 35 centimeters) body of water located in Eduardo Avaroa National Park on the Altiplano Plateau, near the border with Chile. It attracts hundreds of tourists from around the world with an unusual shade of water, which, depending on the time of day and temperature, can vary from saturated red to deep burgundy. The Colorado Lagoon is also known as Red Lake.

Not only the fantastic views, but also the fact that thousands of beautiful flamingos live here, make this lake unique. Flamingo nests in these places have more than 30 thousand birds. In addition to them, the surroundings of the lake are inhabited by other rare species of birds (a total of about 200 species of birds). Near the lake also live llamas, chinchillas and other rodents.
