Teacher's Day in Brazil
Description:
Every professional activity has feedback. But in this area, returns do not come quickly. Often it is only after a long separation from school or university teachers that you begin to understand that some of them have not so little good and eternal sowed in their students.
Teacher’s Day is a great opportunity to thank and show gratitude.
Brazil is no exception to a number of other countries. It is also celebrated annually on October 15 – o Dia do Professor.
The history of the holiday is as follows: on October 15, 1827 (the day of St. Teresa d’Ávila), under the reign of Don Pedro I, a decree was issued for the first time on elementary education in Brazil, and it was said that cities, villages, any settlements should have a school for primary education in the alphabet.
Unfortunately, many of the provisions of this document remained on paper for 120 years.
The first time Teacher’s Day was celebrated only in 1947, in the city of São Paulo in the small school number 1520 on Augusta Street.
Previously, during the long academic semester from June 1 to December 15, there were only 10 vacation days. And several teachers were excited by the idea of organizing another day off in the process of training, necessary in order to interrupt hard work and avoid overwork, and at the same time get an additional opportunity to analyze their professional activities.
Professor Salomão Becker proposed a date of October 15. It was decided that on this day, teachers and students would bring homemade pastries to arrange a small school holiday, which was successfully organized together with teachers Alfredo Gomes, Antônio Pereira and Claudino Busko.
In 1963, a law was passed at the state level, which fixed the status of a festive day for October 15.
Modern teachers are usually very friendly with their students. It is accepted that they hug the child when meeting and saying goodbye, often smile, and, of course, take an active part in the development of children.
Their main position in education and training: to help reveal the world around the child by accessible, humane methods, explaining, explaining, playing with him.
Here is an example of a note for parents from a local kindergarten: “Dear dad and mom!” In order for me to grow up strong and healthy, I need your love, calmness, protection, encouragement, boundaries, discipline and praise. I have to hear "yes" as well as "no." I also need your time and presence. I need you!
