Museum Marageau
Av. do Museu 1983, Cachoeira do Arari, Ilha do Marajo, State of Para, Brazil
About the company:
The Marajo Museum is a small Brazilian museum dedicated to the ancient Marajo culture, which developed at the mouth of the Amazon in the pre-Columbian era. The museum is located on the river island of Marajo, which is considered the cradle of the Marajoar civilization.
The Marajo Museum was founded in 1972 and was originally called the Santa Cruz Museum. It was not until 1983, a year before the museum opened to the general public, that it acquired its modern name.
Today in the Marajo Museum you can see a variety of household items and artifacts left from the Marajoar people, and first of all - delightful painted ceramics. Also in the museum collection there are various cult objects and jewelry found during the excavations of mounds.
In general, the Marageau Museum will be interesting to anyone who is even slightly interested in the history of South America and the pre-Columbian civilizations that lived on this continent.
