Atlas Brasil Cantanedi International Airport is located in Boa Vista, Roraima. It was opened on February 19, 1973, and in 1998 was subjected to the first reconstruction. During it, a runway, apron and a terminal were erected. In September 2009, the capacity of the airport, which now stands at 330,000 passengers per year, was increased, and the building was expanded to 7,000 m2 - two telescopic ladders were installed and a parking space was organized.
The airport was named by presidential decree on April 13, 2009 in memory of a pilot who pioneered aviation in Roraima in the early 1950s. Its technical base includes a runway, two passenger terminals, navigation equipment and a weather station. On the territory of the airport there are several cafes and pharmacies, as well as a medical center, a rest room and a waiting room.
In 2015, it is planned to expand the runway to 2.5 km, which will allow working with sufficiently large aircraft. There are currently several investors willing to support and develop Atlas Brasil Cantanedi Airport.
