Church of the Holy Virgin of the Rosary

R. Matutino, 2-84, Pirenó polis - GO, 72980-000, Brazil

Description:

The Church of the Holy Virgin of the Rosary, built in 1728, is the largest and oldest church in the state of Goias. It is the main church of the city of Pyrenopolis, and it is located near the oldest city theater.

The beauty and size of the church attest to the importance of religion in the mid-18th century. The foundation of the church was erected on a rock, and its walls are made of taipe and unburned brick covered with clay tiles.

The altar of the church is made in the Baroque style and decorated with artistic images of Cerrado flowers. In the chapel you can see the image of the virgin Rosary.

During its existence, the church was restored several times, including after fires in 1830 and 2002. After the last restoration, the temple reopened its doors in 2006 and since then it has been visited every day by a large number of visitors and local residents.
