Acude Itans Reservoir

Acude Itans - Caicó - RN, 59300-000, Brazil

Description:

A ude Itans Reservoir is an artificial reservoir created in the Barra Nova riverbed to provide water to nearby areas.

The reservoir is located 4 kilometers southeast of the city of Kaiko, the area of the reservoir is 1340 hectares. The maximum depth of Aude Itans is 23 meters, and the total length reaches 1310 meters.

The reservoir was built in order to avoid the negative effects of frequent drought, so characteristic of the region. Work on the creation of Aude Itans began in 1932, and by 1936 construction was completed.

Water from the reservoir is most often used for irrigation of fields in agriculture and livestock. In addition, in A ude Itans there are fish - tilapia, carp, etc. The Estevã o de Oliveira fish farming station, located within the water zone, produces more than 9 million fish fry, which are then transferred to hundreds of public and private bodies of water, ensuring the maintenance of fish stocks in continental waters.

Local residents also use the reservoir for recreation, spending their free time here, renting boats or yachts of the local yacht club.
