Niteroi, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Description:
Itaipu Lagoon is a small body of water located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, near the city of Niteroy. The lagoon is a popular holiday destination, attracting many tourists from all over the state.
Itaipu lagoon has a relatively modest size - its area does not exceed one square kilometer. With the Atlantic Ocean, this reservoir is connected by a narrow channel, but several small rivers flow into the lagoon, so the water here is so salty.
There is a well-developed infrastructure around the lagoon - beautiful beaches stretch along its banks, and many excellent bars and restaurants are also built. For a small amount, you can rent a boat, catamaran or jet ski. In addition, there are rare species of fish in the lagoon, which can not be found in the nearest reservoirs - because of this, Itaipu is very popular among local fishermen.
