Rua Bispo Coutinho, 726, Olinda, Brazil

About the company:

The Museum of Religious Art in Pernambuco is a Brazilian museum located in the historic building of the city of Olinda, in the state of Pernambuco.

The building in which the museum is now located was built in the XVII century on the hill on which Duarte Coelho (the first Portuguese to arrive in Brazil) founded the city. For some time, the Senate and later the bishops sat in the museum building. This is evidenced by the ancient episcopal coat of arms, which is visible on the facade of the building. The museum building is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The museum was opened in 1974. It houses religious paintings, objects for worship and other shrines, photographs, maps, documents, archaeological finds relating to the city. The museum often hosts lectures and exhibitions.
