Ribeirão Preto

Square Ferreira

Ferreira, Fortaleza, Ribeiran Preto - São Paulo, Brazil

Description:

Ferreira Square is the heart of Fortaleza, divided into modern institutions and historic colonial-era buildings.

Ferreira was opened in 1929 and was previously named Feira Nova. And in 1971, the square was given its current name - in honor of Antonio Rodríguez Ferreiro, a famous pharmacist. Praca do Ferreira has undergone many reforms throughout its history, the last of which was in 1991.

In that year, a new column with a clockwork mechanism was erected, and the placement of the gardens was changed. This innovation did not change the appearance of the square, but saved the original architecture of Ferreiro.

Praca do Ferreira is a favorite symbol of Fortaleza.
