Imperial Petropolis
Description:
The legend says. Emperor Don Pedro I traveled from Rio to the neighboring state of Minas Gerais for his imperial affairs. His path ran through the mountainous area 70 km from the capital. And the Emperor liked the cool mountain climate so much that he decided to buy one of the fazends in these places. But the owner of the fazenda, Padre Correa, was a fool himself. Fazend didn't sell. Then Pedro bought the land next to her. Brazilian democracy, no collectivization. His father did not have time to build a summer residence here, but his son, Don Pedro II, fulfilled this dream. So, near Rio de Janeiro at a kilometer height above sea level, the city of Petropolis appeared. However, we will not describe the whole story here. It is better to see everything with your own eyes. Let’s just say that we visit the Summer Imperial Residence, the Cathedral, the Crystal Palace, the Chocolate Factory. Fans of aviation can visit the house of her father, Santos Dumont. The road to Petropolis is very picturesque and offers breathtaking views.
