Description:

The Church of Our Lady Matrice Conseisau is a temple that was built in 1749. The church is famous for the fact that it houses one of the most famous statues of Our Lady of Conseisau, which is the patroness of the city. Her arrival in the church dates back to 1632 and a mysterious story is connected with the appearance of the statue.

Initially, the statue was headed to a completely different place, but when the ship reached the Angra area, the weather deteriorated greatly and a storm rose into the sea, which prevented the sailors from continuing their journey. The captain regarded this storm as a sign of God and decided to deliver the statue to the temple of Our Lady Matrice Conceisau. Only then could everyone continue their journey. Since then, the temple has been very visited.
