Church du Karmu

The monastery of do Karma is located on the famous attraction in Rio de Janeiro - on the square of Kinzi di Novembro. The monastery has a church, the laying of both buildings was made in 1585.

The Convento do Carmo convent experienced important events in the history of Brazil – the declaration of independence and the invasion of the Dutch. The past left an indelible mark on the architecture of the building, but the restoration work managed to preserve its former grandeur. Du Karma, like other buildings on Kinzi di Novembru, is built in the style of neoclassicism.

The exterior of the building of the XVI century is striking in beauty: in the very center of the stone structure there is a garden with a fountain, flower beds and palm trees that complement the architectural monument. And from the arched gate do Karma you can enjoy a wonderful fountain-pyramid built in 1789 and other architectural monuments.
