The Chapel of the Sadness of the Mother of God

Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is a religious and architectural landmark located in the famous historical center of Parati. The chapel was built in 1800, with plans to build two towers, but only one was completed.

It is a small and beautiful temple, made with little decoration, different from other churches with richer decor. At the top of the dome of the historical monument is a rooster indicating the direction of the wind.

From the territory where the chapel of the Sorrow of the Mother of God is located, you can observe a beautiful view of the Bay of Parati and picturesque trees visible in the distance. Currently, the chapel is almost always closed, as most of it is destroyed and in need of restoration.
