Square of Serzedelo Correia
Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Description:
Serzedelo Correia Square was built in 1893 and is located in a residential quarter of Copacabana.
The square was adjacent to a tram stop, which was demolished in 1950 during reconstruction. At the site of the former stop, a shopping center was built, which is the main one in the quarter. The square itself also previously had a Gothic-style monastery, which was demolished in 1973. At the moment, a church is located on the first floor of the former building.
The most significant changes in the appearance of the square were made between 1940 and 1950. It was then that Serzedelo Correia acquired its present appearance - green spaces, paths and benches - a great time for a lunch break or walks.
