Dr. Leopoldo Teixeira Leyte's Iron Bridge

Paraiba do Sul - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Description:

The Iron Bridge of Dr. Leopoldo Teixeira Leyte is a bridge built across the Paraiba do Sul River. It was built by the engineer Frontin. The bridge serves as the main assistant of the dividing line. Construction of the bridge began on February 2, 1892, and it opened on March 29, 1896. It was named after Dr. Leopoldo Teixeira Leyte, mayor of the city from 1892-1896.

The bridge offers a beautiful view of Rio de Janeiro, and especially the river. This place is especially popular among tourists at night. The beautiful city glows with a million colorful lights. At the moment, it is not used for its intended purpose, as it is not necessary. For this reason, the authorities do not allocate funds for its reconstruction and repair. But it is this bridge that gives the area historical value.
