Rua Dr. Fernandes Junior, n. 160 | Centro, Vassouras, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
About the company:
The Ivy House Museum is a museum also known as the Ivy Ranch. It is one of the best examples of urban housing for a wealthy family during the heyday of coffee plantations in the Raraiba do Sul valley. Here the original interior of the XIX century is preserved. The Ivy House was formerly owned by Joaquim Teixeira Leyte (1812-1872), who was one of the most important coffee moguls in the region.
No one knows the exact date when the house was built, but undoubtedly this period dates back to the first half of the XIX century. One of the heiresses of the house - Eufrasia Teixeira Leyte - after her death in 1930, most of her property was given to a charitable organization. The museum presents a collection of furniture, books and other original items that have survived. The collection also includes costumes of French origin, which are considered the most important exhibit.
