Cas de Rui Barbosa Museum
About the company:
The Casa de Rui Barbosa Museum is a unique museum with 37,000 books, personal and antique items.
The mansion was originally built for Baron Lagoa in 1849.
One of the most famous politicians and statesmen of Brazil, Casa de Rui Barbosa lived in this house from 1895 to 1923 - until his death. In 1924, the house was bought by the federal government of Brazil and in 1930 opened its doors to visitors as a museum. It was included in the list of important historic buildings in 1938.
The museum building is a prime example of 19th century Brazilian urban architecture.
