Museum Submarine Riachuelo

Alfred Agache, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

About the company:

The museum submarine Riachuelo is a floating museum in Rio de Janeiro, which is a decommissioned S-22 submarine moored in the city port.

Diesel submarine S-22 was built in England in 1975, and two years later became part of the Brazilian Navy. There it received a new name - Riachuelo - in honor of the eponymous tributary of the Paraguay River, where in 1865 the famous naval battle took place. The submarine served the Brazilian army for 20 years, and in 1997 it was decided to turn it into a floating museum.

Today, the Riachuelo submarine is a famous landmark of Rio de Janeiro, extremely popular among tourists. Those who wish to visit an old submarine and get acquainted with its internal structure are always enough. And we can safely say that a tour of a real submarine will leave behind a lot of impressions.
