Inga River Monolithic Stones

Ingá - Paraí ba, Brasil

Description:

The monoliths of the Inga River are huge stones dotted with drawings and undeciphered inscriptions. The largest stone is in the list of 7 wonders of Brazil.

In 98 kilometers from João Pesoa, in the municipality of Inga, which grew up around the river of the same name, unique archaeological sites were discovered. There are several large stones that are covered with man-made patterns. The largest structure is a stone wall, the dimensions of which exceed 25 meters in length and 3 meters in height. This stone is literally dotted with thousands of drawings, the meaning of which is unclear. Some suggest that this is an ancient map of the starry sky, others consider the complex in Inga a large temple where sacrifices were made. There is also an opinion that the huge stone, which is called Itacoatiara, which in the local Indian dialect means "drawn rock", is the place where the indigenous oracle lived in ancient times.

In addition, the Inga River Valley is an open-air museum of paleontology. There are numerous fossils and skeletons of ancient inhabitants of northern Brazil.
