The writer’s house is a small mansion characteristic of the thirties of the XX century. José America de Almeida is the largest representative of the so-called Northeastern literature. The writer was a friend of the governor João Pesoa, in whose honor the city was later renamed, ran in the presidential elections of 1932, led active campaigning activities.
