Ladeira de Sao Francisco, Joao Pessoa

About the company:

The Valfredo Rodriguez Photography Museum is dedicated to the history of João Pesoa. Here are exhibited photos with views of the city.

The Museum of Photography is located in the building of an ancient powder warehouse on St. Francis Street, the first street of João Pesoa. In 1938, the arsenal and powder warehouse, built at the beginning of the XVII century, were reconstructed, and a museum was opened within their walls. Valfredo Rodriguez, the first curator of the museum, tried to make the exposition correspond to the spirit of the historic building in which it is presented. Today in the Museum of Photography you can see old photographs of João Pesoa, reflecting the history of the city, and photo portraits of its famous inhabitants.

The museum is open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and a trip here is part of the city’s major tourist excursions.

There is also a cafe in the museum.
